Why Pantone 173 Rocks My Socks, Time and Time Again: A Love Letter
Share
Connecting to a color is like connecting to a musical note or pitch, that part of the song you just can’t get enough of. Playing it over and over again, registering something very specific, very precise.
Color is similar, just a different language. We should gravitate towards what feels right.
So, today I’d like to explore something a little unconventional. To share with you my feelings toward Pantone 173.
Pantone 173 presents itself like a spirited veteran, virile in nature, leaning toward a feminine presence; paradoxically. Pantone 173 knows who she is; and who she isn’t. She can accent most natural hues, sharply contrast white AND black, and surprise you with her versatility.
She comes off like a hippy in the 70’s but is so much more than that. She doesn’t like to be told what to do and her presence alone can shift even the most rigid thinking patterns.
She’s expressive and rooted in the present, having learned from her mistakes and not overly future-oriented.
She is the color of movement, energetically dispersed like plasma. If she was born in any country, it would be Morocco.
She’s not the type of color you have to control, you can bring her out often. Her warmth will comfort you like a seasonal wine that had an excellent harvest. You can enjoy her time and time again.
But please, please do not pair her with neon.
