7 Celebrities Who Are Also Visual Artists

Some people devote themselves to one trade their entire life. They master it and melt into it until the line between person and craft almost disappears. Others are jacks of all trades. They wander into new hobbies and skills whenever curiosity taps them on the shoulder.
This blog is about the actors and actresses you might not know are also visual artists.
1) Lucy Liu
Lucy does not mess around. She moves through mediums like a breeze that refuses to stay in one room. Mixed media, acrylic, ink, sculpture. Expression seems to move through her in two directions. As an artist and as the medium itself when she is acting.

2) Jim Carrey
Jim’s artworks are as colorful as he is. Vibrant and full of life. The link below shows his acrylic pieces, but he clearly isn’t tied down to a single medium. His words about making art say everything. “When I sculpt and paint is when I feel the most present and in harmony with the environment; as if all time has been suspended, all gravity disappears.”

3) Sharon Stone
Sharon’s acrylic paintings are abstract and ethereal. She began painting after suffering a stroke in 2001 and eventually returned to it full time in her Los Angeles home studio. She is a beautiful example of how art can become a doorway to healing.

4) James Franco
James works mainly with acrylics, and his pieces capture his quirks in a way words never could. And yes, another cat lover joins the list. You can explore his work below.

5) Johnny Depp
Johnny creates portraits of celebrities, characters and his own personal blend of expressionism. Tarot, silkscreen, vivid faces from imagination. I feel a tiny personal connection because we share the same birthday. LOL.

6) Tilda Swinton
Tilda has ventured into performative art projects that do exactly what they are meant to do. They unsettle and wake people up. One of her most famous pieces is linked below. The one where she lived inside a glass box.

7) Anthony Hopkins
I wonder if playing Picasso in the film “Surviving Picasso” nudged him toward painting (mostly acrylic). His work has a rawness that feels emotional before it gets intellectual.

I feel so inspired by their art. In a curious way it's always fun to see how someone expresses themselves artistically. I feel the same about musicians; it's like hearing a song can show you a piece of someone's soul.
Cool!
